Bulletin – 04/12
Since the last SG Petch ANECCC Championship bulletin two rounds have been held, the SG Petch Tour of Hamsterley and a return to tarmac for the Jim Clark Reivers Rally.
On the Tour of Hamsterley Neil Ayre (Mitsubishi Evo) had his first ever maximum points score on an ANECCC Championship rally, with second place points being taken by David Taylor in his 1600cc MkII Escort, with Graham Gaskell bring his 1400cc Nova home for 3rd place points. On the Jim Clark Reivers Steve Bannister scored his 3rd maximum score in three starts in his Ford Escort, With David Taylor taking his 4th 2nd place points score of the year, it’s only a matter of time before David gets a maximum points score. Third place points on the Jim Clark were taken by Tony Thompson in his Vauxhall Chevette, Tony is the only competitor to have started all six rounds of the championship. In the drivers championship David Taylor is now back in front by one point from Steve Bannister, with Tony Thompson 3rd closely followed by Alan Hughes
The co-drivers championship is even closer than the drivers’ championship with the top three covered by 3 points. Louise Sutherland is the current leader by 2 points from Lynsey Brench. Josh Davison has dropped to 3rd one point behind Lynsey having competed on 5 rounds so far with 4 different drivers. There is then a gap to Paul Hudson and Richard Wardle who are only 5 points apart in 4th and 5th places.
With 7 rounds still to run, and the best 7 scores to count these places could all change, and with a run of 4 tarmac rallies, following the Greystoke Stages, some of the tarmac experts could rapidly rise up the points table.
After six round the current points standings are:-
Drivers
David Taylor 61 pts, Steve Bannister 60 pts, Tony Thompson 42 pts, Alan Hughes 39 pts, Joanna Wickham and Graham Gaskell 24 pts.
Co-drivers.
Louise Sutherland 60 pts, Lynsey Brench 58 pts, Josh Davison 57 pts, Paul Hudson 37 pts, Richard Wardle 32 pts and Heather Grisedale 27 pts.
Round 7 of the SG Petch ANECCC championship is the Greystoke Stages on the 8th July, being a single venue rally this is one of the cheapest forest rallies of the year. Regulations are now available at www.greystokestages.co.uk
There is then a run of 4 tarmac rallies starting with the Tyneside Stages on the Otterburn Ranges on the 12th August. Regulations and on-line entry are now available on the rallies new website www.tynesidestages.co.uk
