Richard and Edwin Cook Take Championship

Congratulations to Richard and Edwin Cook on winning the 2007 S G Petch ANECCC Stage Rally Championship, and thus retaining the ANECCC Championship they won in 2006.

Richard and Edwin were the second registered competitors at the Christmas Stages at Croft, in 14th place; the highest ANECCC registered competitors were Chris Wise/Tracey Taylor-West in 3rd overall, with the 3rd ANECCC competitors being Sian Beaty/Vicki Foster.

Richard and Edwin are now looking forward to completing in the Jack Frost Stages in 2 weeks time in one of Steve Petch’s cars.

The start of the 2008 SG Petch ANECCC Stage Rally Championship is fast approaching with the Jack Frost stages on the 13th January, entries close on 5th January with spaces still available, regulations are available at – www.darlington-motor-club.org.uk.

If anyone doing the Jack Frost Stages is planning to register for the 2008 championship could they send their registrations to me before the day, as I am bringing my Micra out to play and it would make my day a bit easier.

Regs for the 2nd round of the championship are also available, the Riponian Rally – 10th February - www.riponmotorsportsclub.co.uk

Please note that the date of the 3rd round of the championship, The Border Counties Rally, has changed from 15th March to the 5th April.

Grizedale Stages 2007

A cold, wet and snowy day greeted the 4 contenders for the 2007 SG Petch ANECCC Stage Rally Championship.

At first service after the first two Grizedale Stages William Jarman/Mark Fisher had a lead of nearly a one and a half minutes from Richard and Edwin Cook, with Marcus Noble/Helen Hall 20 seconds further back.

The two short afternoon stages had little effect on the gaps, with just the two repeat runs through Grizedale to go. William Jarman/Mark Fisher had a slow time through the first one of these but pulled it back on the second to be the highest ANECCC championship contender in 11th overall and 3rd in class.

The battle for 2nd ANECCC contender was close with Marcus Noble/Helen Hall beating the Cooks by 2 seconds, in 18th overall and 2nd in class, but Richard and Edwin Cook picked up 4 minutes of road penalties to drop them to 33rd and 6th in class.

The 4th championship contenders are Sian Beaty/Julianne Antrobus in the little KA who battled to a fine 45th overall and 5th in class. This leaves the championship positions with only the Christmas Stages to go on 29th December:-
